Promo Codes for Paid Ticketing Pages
M
MARK CATUOGNO
Please enable the use of promo codes on pages with paid tickets, so that we can offer discounted or complimentary tickets within the same event/ticket bucket.
Use Case:
For our events, we have:
Volunteers who should receive free tickets
Families we support who should receive free or discounted tickets
General attendees who purchase tickets at full price
Right now, we have to track complimentary and paid tickets separately, which creates:
Extra manual work and reconciliation
Fragmented reporting, since comp and paid tickets are not under one event/ticket bucket
Ideally, we’d like:
One event with a single ticket type or bucket, and
The ability to apply promo codes (100% off or partial discounts) for specific groups (volunteers, families, etc.), while everyone else pays the standard rate.
This would simplify our operations, improve reporting accuracy, and make it much easier to manage attendance.

I also would like to see added the ability Create discounted or free/complimentary event tickets-discount with promo codes right now (like Eventbrite does), so you can offer reduced prices or comps to a number of potential attendees (Such as if you have an event where your membership gets a set number of free or discounted tickets, send them a promo code so they get that rate for those tickets) while others who are not members pay a ticket fee per ticket. The original poster is right in that we should not have to set up a separate page for free or discounted tickets like suggested here: https://www.givelively.org/resources/create-discounted-or-complimentary-event-tickets#:~:text=Our%20Event%20Ticketing%20technology%20does,Event%20Ticketing
I love using GiveLively, but the Event Ticketing definitely needs some TLC. I would prefer to use GiveLively if I can, but this suggested function would help take things to the next level for those of us that need it. It would help us streamline back end operations, reporting and so much easier to manage if we only have to use one Event Ticketing page for these scenario rather than setting up several work arounds and have it be admin heavy when those of us with grants typically are not allowed spend money to fundraise on those grant dollars!

Thanks for your suggestion! A little about how we’ll use your input: we use Canny to help plan for the year ahead and our team engages in discussion threads as we seek feedback for prioritized items. We’ll update this post to let you know whether we plan to incorporate your request into our next roadmap. We receive a lot of requests, so even the greatest ideas might not get implemented right away. Thank you for your patience! To anyone else who reads this, please vote on this request if you would like it to be prioritized. The person who posted and anyone who comments or votes on this post will receive email updates about the status of your post. We encourage you to return and vote on others to show your support of additional suggestions. Clair Lofthouse This was also mentioned here a few years ago: https://givelively.canny.io/event-ticketing/p/events-discounted-or-comped-tickets-for-event-ticketing with a higher amount of feedback. However the OP provided more feedback than the OP from the other page that has 40 likes.
